Course Overview Hi everyone. My name is Alan Ackmann, and welcome to my course, Storytelling to Engage and Motivate. I'm an instructor over rhetoric and professional writing at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Effective communication is one of the most sought-after professional skill sets, and one of the most long-standing communication strategies is the ability to be a good storyteller. This course will help you round out your communication ability by taking a deep dive into storytelling as a tool. Some of the major topics that we'll cover include what makes an effective story, steps to developing a story, persuasive storytelling in action, and ongoing storytelling strategies. By the end of this course, you'll know how to identify, develop, and tell effective stories and how to work them in alongside your existing skills as a communicator. You don't need any other skills to get started, so I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn storytelling with the Storytelling to Engage and Motivate course, at Pluralsight.
