What you'll learn

In this series of tutorials you'll learn how to texture a game character, step by step, in Mudbox. To get started, we'll lay down the base colors for our character and discuss the basics of the workflow we'll use throughout the course. From here we'll jump into refining our textures for each element of our character. During the refinement stage, we'll learn some great techniques for giving our textures life especially when we start texturing the skin. Once we've finished the diffuse textures, we'll learn how to control the specularity of our character by creating specular maps right in Mudbox. Software required: Mudbox 2014.

Joshua is a devoted games author at Pluralsight. For years Joshua was a key author behind Digital-Tutors' (now a Pluralsight company) popular game engine training. As a kid, he had a passion for playing video games, which eventually developed into a fascination with the process of game creation. The question of "How'd they do that?" led Joshua on a quest to learn to make these games himself. Ever since then, Joshua has devoted his life to creating games, as well as teaching others to build their own fantastic video games.
