This course uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (personality assessment) as a tool to help you understand other people and understand how you can work with and influence them better. We also explore what your own Myers-Briggs results mean in order to better understand yourself. The purpose of this course is to help you improve relationships and communication with others.
In this course, we use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality assessment to help us understand, work with, and influence others. In the first module, we introduce personality assessments and the MBTI and set the foundation for the rest of the course. In the second module, we break down the MBTI results so you can understand the results beyond what looks like just a bunch of mixed-up letters. In the third module, we go into an exercise to help you really understand specific results and apply this knowledge to people you work with, to help you know how to influence and work with them. In the fourth module, we take this information and apply it to YOU. This course is all about helping you be more effective in your communication with, and understanding of, other people.

Introduction to the MBTI Assessment Welcome to the Pluralsight course Working and Communicating with Different Personalities. In this course we are going to use the concept of a personality assessment, specifically the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to illustrate how we can work with and persuade almost anyone. This course will help us understand other people's personalities as well as our own personality. The emphasis is on how we can work with other people, how should we communicate with others, and if we need to persuade them, what are the best ways to do that based on their personality.
Breaking Down the 16 MBTI Results We've had a good introduction to the Myers-Briggs assessment and the concept of personality assessments and how they help us interact with other people. Let's spend some time understanding what the 16 different results of the Myers-Briggs assessment might mean. We're not going to go in-depth into each of the 16 results, but the exercises that we'll do in this module will really help you understand what the Is and the Es and the Ss and Ns and the Ts and all those letters really mean. Adding this knowledge and these techniques to our foundation will help us understand how to work with others, which is what we'll cover in the next module. Getting back to our scenario, you have identified a real need to understand why your colleagues do what they do and what you could do to influence them. The understanding you get in this module continues to lay the foundation we started in the last module so you can work with and persuade your colleagues more effectively. Let's get started.
Working with People Who Have Specific Personality Types Now that we have a good foundation of the Myers-Briggs we can apply what we've learnt to people we work with. As we go through this module think about how you can apply these exercises to people in this scenario. How does knowing their personality types help you know what kind of information you'll give to your boss or how you will influence your colleagues' decision-making process? Applying the information we have is the next step to helping us influence, work with and communicate with people more effectively.
Using Your Assessment Results for Personal Success So far, we've talked about what the Myers-Briggs assessment is. In the first module, we introduced the Myers-Briggs assessment, and in the second module, we talked about what the results mean. You now have a better understanding of what the results mean and might even be able to see someone's Myers-Briggs results and draw some strong conclusions. In the last module, we talked about what these results mean for working with and persuading others. In this module, I want to explore ideas on what these results mean for the most important person in your career. That's you. Understanding what your personality assessments really mean can have a profound impact on your success. Back to our scenario. You have now taken the time to get your own assessment. You have a better idea of why your colleagues tend to do things the way they do. You understand people in your life better. You've even made changes in the way that you communicate and work with others so that you can be more influential and help them excel based on their personality. Now you are wondering if you can help yourself excel by understanding your own results. Again, you are the most important person in your career. Let's dive into some concepts, exploring the intersection of your own personality results and your road to success.
