Pluralsight One To Host Utah’s First-Ever Hour of Code Workshop For LGBTQ+ Youth at Encircle’s IGNITE Summit

Pluralsight CEO To Speak at Inaugural IGNITE Summit

SILICON SLOPES, Utah — November 29, 2017 — Pluralsight, the enterprise technology learning platform, today announced that its philanthropic entity Pluralsight One will host Utah’s first-ever Hour of Code workshop for LGBTQ+ youth at Encircle’s IGNITE summit on Saturday, December 2nd at Utah Valley University.

Committed to celebrating diversity and democratizing technology by promoting an inclusive technology ecosystem where all are welcome, Pluralsight One will kick off Computer Science Education week by hosting an Hour of Code track, entitled Create the Future, at IGNITE. The track will include three workshops focused on inspiring youth through experiential learning opportunities around technology. A champion of diversity and inclusion, Pluralsight CEO Aaron Skonnard will deliver a keynote address and share encouraging remarks with attendees.

“We are committed to democratizing technology education. Ensuring that all youth, regardless of their sexual orientation, have the chance to learn tech skills is deeply important to Pluralsight,” said Aaron Skonnard co-founder and CEO of Pluralsight. “Today, in partnership with Encircle’s IGNITE conference, we hope to inspire the courage needed for these young leaders from across our state to create their own future and open the door to endless opportunities. We welcome them with open arms.”

Encircle’s IGNITE summit is designed to equip young LGBTQ+ high school students with the tools they need to nurture creativity, foster individuality and kindle their desire to innovate. Speakers will discuss pressing issues and interests of today’s LGBTQ+ youth and facilitate access to crucial educational and career opportunities.

Pluralsight One’s support of IGNITE and LGBTQ+ youth is one of many ways the organization has made progress on delivering on its mission since it launched in late September of this year. In less than three months, Pluralsight One has joined Pledge 1%, committed $10 million over the next five years to support K-12 computer science education in the United States, and brought Project Homeless Connect to Utah.
