Prerequisites
  • The Linux Foundation states there are no formal prerequisites for the CKA exam, though hands-on Kubernetes experience is strongly recommended. Candidates should be comfortable with:
  • \- Working from a Linux command line
  • \- Basic understanding of containers and container runtimes (e.g., Docker, containerd)
  • \- Familiarity with YAML syntax
  • \- General networking concepts (DNS, load balancing, firewalls)
  • Recommended Kubernetes-specific knowledge:
  • \- Kubernetes architecture (control plane, nodes, etcd, API server)
  • \- Installing and configuring clusters with kubeadm
  • \- Managing RBAC, workloads, storage, and networking within a cluster
  • \- Troubleshooting cluster components and workloads
