What you'll learn
Goal setting and year-end reviews can be a dreaded process because most goals are too vague to review easily. In this course, Goal Setting for Leaders and Team Members: Anatomy of Effective Goals, you'll learn to proactively define and articulate comprehensive goals that tell a clear story and measure impact. First, you'll explore how to reframe your perspective on goal setting from a "love-hate relationship" to viewing goals as compelling narratives that guide progress. Next, you'll discover how to articulate the high-level purpose of a goal ("what"), explain its underlying value and impact ("why"), determine key performance indicators ("how will I know?"), and set specific target metrics ("did I get there?"). Finally, you'll learn how to consistently structure goals as a complete story, encompassing the "what," "why," "how," and "did I?" elements. When you're finished with this course, you'll have the skills and knowledge of effective goal setting needed to confidently write goals that guide progress, demonstrate impact, and contribute to more objective performance discussions.
