Course Overview
Hi everyone, and welcome to this course, PRINCE2 - Tailoring a Project, where we will look at the concept of tailoring a project to fit the characteristics of that project and the project environment. My name is Tommy van Schaik, and currently I work as a project manager for the Dutch government. PRINCE2 is a project management method based on the best project management practices gathered by government and commercial organizations around the world. This course is the last course in the PRINCE2 Practitioner Learning Path. This learning path is a 10 course journey that will get you ready to pass your PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner exams. Each project is unique, and in order to get the best possible result, it is important that you tailor the way you apply PRINCE2 to your specific project. In this course, we will focus on the benefits of tailoring the PRINCE2 method, how exactly to tailor the PRINCE2 concepts to fit your project's environment, and how to adopt the PRINCE2 method within your organization. By the end of this course, you will know how to tailor the PRINCE2 management method to fit the environment and characteristics of your project, and your knowledge on the principle of tailoring a project will be up to practitioner level. So let's go ahead and get started on this course, PRINCE2 - Tailoring a Project, here at Pluralsight.

An Organizational PMM
Hi there. In this module, we're going to cover the way you can create a company-wide tailored PRINCE2 management method, where you'll create a sort of PRINCE2 tailoring template for the other projects to use. And we're also going to look at the way you can implement this organizational project management method within your own organization. Alright, so we're going to start by explaining what tailoring an organization's project management method actually means, and why this can provide the organization with additional business value, and secondly, we're going to look at the best way you can approach embedding PRINCE2 into an organization. Alright, so let's get started on this short module on creating an organizational project management method, and embedding PRINCE2 within your organization.

A Program Environment
Hi everybody, and welcome back to this course, PRINCE2 - Tailoring a project. In this module, we will be looking at tailoring projects that are part of a program environment, instead of standalone projects within an organization. So first, we'll look at how being part of a program potentially influences the organization of a project, then we will take a look at the way the PRINCE2 themes are affected by a program environment, the processes, and how they can be tailored to fit within the program environment, and finally in what way the management products are tailored to fit in the program environment. Alright, so let's get started on this module on tailoring a project that is part of a program environment.

Project Scale
Hi everyone, and welcome back to this module where we will be looking at the way you can tailor your PRINCE2 management method according to the size and scale of your current project. One piece of criticism that people give the PRINCE2 method is that it has too much overhead and management products, and is way too comprehensive to be of practical use to smaller projects. However, when tailoring your project method to fit the size and complexity of your project, you make sure that you get the right balance between overhead and control in your project. Alright, so first we'll be looking at the scale of a project, and how you can categorize certain types of projects with regards to their size and complexity. Then we will look at the way you can tailor the project organization to fit the size of your project. Then we will look at each of the themes, and the way they can be tailored to fit the size and complexity of the project. We'll look at the processes and determine what changes can be made in the PRINCE2 process model to make sure that the method you are using fits the size of your project. And finally, we'll look at the management products, and how you can tailor those to fit your project's size. Alright, so let's get started.

Commercial Customer/Supplier Environment
Hi everyone, and welcome to this module on tailoring a project that is part of a Commercial Customer/Supplier relationship. As you can imagine, there can be a huge difference in the project management method you will use when executing a project in house in your own organization, or when you have external suppliers taking care of part of the project. In this course, we will explain how this commercial customer/supplier relationship will influence your project, and how you can tailor the organization, themes, processes, and management products of your project to fit these types of projects. Alright, so first we'll look exactly at what it means to have some part of the project carried out by an external supplier. Then we will look at how this will affect your themes, including the organization. Then we will look at how this will influence the processes, and how certain processes need to be rearranged when dealing with an external supplier. And finally we will look at the way you will handle management products in a project that is part of a commercial customer/supplier relationship. Alright, so let's get started.

Project Types
Alright everybody, and welcome back to this final module of the course Tailoring a PRINCE2 Project. In this course, we will be looking at the way you can tailor the project management method to fit specific Project Types. All projects are different, and certain types of projects like evolving projects or projects with a distinct delivery method deserve some special attention when tailoring your project. In this module, we will discuss these project types and some pointers on how to best tailor your PRINCE2 method to fit these specific projects. First we'll discuss projects with a very specific lifecycle model and delivery method like Scrum projects. Then we'll discuss evolving projects, which are projects that have no specifications up front like R&D projects. And finally we have feasibility projects, where the feasibility study of a project is actually set up as a project of its own. These are projects where the end product is a recommendation for certain options that can per pursued by a subsequent project. And finally, because this is the last module of the last course in the PRINCE2 Practitioner series, we'll provide you with some exam tips and some pointers on further studying before you take on the PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner exam. Alright, so let's get started.
